Staff PD |
1. What will Staff Professional Development (PD) look like?
We commit to accessing experts in the field, work in conjunction with other schools and translating new knowledge to best fit the Chilwell mould.
Our staff is collaborative in their approach to teaching. Informal sharing happens all the time. We will also allocate formal meetings to utilise experts within our team to up-skill our staff.
PD happens through personal research and exploration. Staff will continue to work to offer a dynamic program for your child that enables the use through planning and research both individually and as a team.
2. Won’t students be playing games on the iPad and being distracted from their task?
No. Teachers will plan and direct the use of the device. Our high expectations for students to be actively engaged in their learning do not change. This is the perfect opportunity for students to learn how to be connected to a digital tool and use it appropriately without getting distracted.
3. Who decides what is appropriate content?
There are 3 aspects to this as there are three key stakeholders in this device.
Teachers - At school, we as educators decide on appropriate resources that enhance our teaching and learning in all areas of the curriculum. Digital content is included.
Parents - At home, the device belongs to your family. You decide the appropriate content for a device that is used for your child’s education.
Students - At school, students will sign the contract. They know that it is for educational purposes only. They know what is ‘school appropriate’, there is no grey area, they know the consequences.
