BringIT2Chilwell is designed and planned not to have a financial impact on families. We are aware that many families already have a variety of devices and have no expectations that another one be purchased. If you have an iPad and would like your child to access it during school hours to enhance what we are currently doing, then let us know. The decision is yours.
1. What happens when/if it is damaged? What about insurances against breakages, theft, loss, damage etc?
With a BYO device option, families are responsible for checking their insurance policy to ensure that the device is covered. The school strongly encourages families to seek advice from your contents insurer to insure the device while at school or even when you are on holidays away from your residence.
We set high expectations about respecting equipment, handling of equipment and reminding students to treat them respectfully. Prevention strategies are encouraged. Should a screen be cracked, it is approx $100 to have repaired.
We would recommend a cover for the iPad. Available from any retail outlet, eBay, website. Any iPad retailer will sell protective covers.
If the device is found to be faulty – return it to place of purchase for follow up.
2. How much will parents be expected to pay in apps?
Staff agreed that it would be no more than $30 in 2015. We endeavour to keep the costs as low as possible and explore the 'free' version first.
